Mississippi River rock blasting on hold
For now, anyway. Excavation barges seem to be doing the trick according to Army Corps of Engineer spokesman Mike Peterson. Rock excavation is expected to take 30 to 45 days. Barge traffic on the river will continue to be delayed during this time. However, Peterson points out the “benefit of the extraordinarily low river level is the ability to clean out the bottom of the river.
