No changes this week
Little rain has fallen in Arkansas this week. The U.S. Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that over the last seven days, we’ve seen no improvements in drought conditions in Arkansas. On the other hand, drought conditions have not expanded. We are at a standstill and this week’s map looks just like last week’s. Close to 74 percent of the state remains in a severe drought; roughly 42 percent is in extreme drought. Exceptional drought conditions (now covering less than 10 percent of the state) linger in portions of 11 northwest and north central counties: Benton, Washington, Carroll, Boone, Marion, Baxter, Izard, Stone, Searcy, Newton and Madison. A fraction of the southwest corner of Fulton County also remains in exceptional drought.
