Drought forecast for Arkansas

It seems we’ve had so much rain the past few weekends.  Isn’t the drought over yet?   Well, according to the National Weather Service, the drought is not over, but we are heading in the right direction.  Dry conditions are retreating.   Unfortunately, not all of parts of the state are improving as quickly as others.   The northwest is still showing the largest rain deficits.  But as of September 13, conditions look to be improving, especially in the south and the east, at least for the next few months.  The Climate Prediction Center forecasts a return to closer to normal precipitation and the possibility of above normal rainfall.
