Relief on its way?

Fall may be in the air.  Cooler temperatures seem to be prevailing in Arkansas and some relief from the extreme heat and drought conditions is apparent.  Pastures are greening and the harvest is promising. Rainfall in the last two weeks, while not a drought-buster by any means, is helping to reduce the intensity of drought conditions in Arkansas.  Although we are not seeing any dramatic changes, the latest drought monitor shows less than half of the state in extreme drought.  Last week, nearly 60 percent of the state was in extreme drought.  Exceptional drought conditions, however, persist in the most northwestern counties.  Meteorologists are predicting some additional rain over the next few days.  See more …
